Calisthenics is a combination of dance and gymnastics. It is broken up into multiple event including:

  • Figure March

  • Free Exercises

  • Club Swinging

  • Rod Exercises

  • Aesthetic

  • Dance

Teams learn routines to music for each event.

The following link (Cali Montage) has Calisthenics activities (at a competition)

Anyone. Calisthenics is open to all age groups. Competitive Calisthenics operates in age groups:

  • Tines (3-7)

  • Sub-Juniors (8-10)

  • Juniors (11-13)

  • Inters (14-17)

  • Seniors (16+), and

  • Masters (26+)

Recreational teams can be more broadly grouped with no specific hard and fast rules.

That's ok.

Vanta has both recreational and competitive classes. If you are a beginner - or it's been a while - then join a recreational team for some fun and skill development. If or when you feel ready, then join the comp team for some extra challenge.

Vanta tries to keep the costs to a minimum whilst ensuring that everyone has opportunities to develop and perform.

  • The costs associated with the sport are: national/state registration fees

  • term class fees, and

  • equipment hire

From time to time, additional fees for competitions, travel expenses and other activities may arise.

In NSW, Calisthenics is not well known - with 7 active clubs. It is much larger and well known in Victoria (100+), South Australia (40), Western Australia (15), Queensland (10), the ACT (6) and NT (4)

Our program follows a "Tots to Parents" pathway — we welcome dancers from Tots age (3+) right through to Masters(26+).

We have Tots (3-4), Tinies (5-7), Sub-Juniors (8-10), Juniors (11-13), Intermediates (14-17), Seniors (18+) and Masters (26+).

There's a place for every age and stage

Yes, we work with a variety of budgets and pride ourselves on delivering high-quality results regardless of your price range. We’ll help you set a budget during the planning phase and make adjustments to achieve the best results within your means.

Not at all! Vanta welcomes complete beginners as well as experienced dancers. Our first-half class structure means every dancer — regardless of experience — builds technique and choreography together.

All dancers take part in the same first half of class: stretching, strengthening, technique, and choreography. Competitive students then stay for the second half to further refine technique and learn spots and positions to get competition-ready. Recreational dancers get the same quality foundation without the added competition training or commitment.

Yes, dancers can move into the competitive stream before the end of the first term. Coaches are given discretion to advise the best path forward, so please feel free to reach out to find out what works best for you and your dancer.

We ask that all participants come in clean and neat activewear, leggings and a fitted top, or a leotard. We ask that hair is in a bun, or in the minimum tied back and away from the face
